AWARDS“Rehabilitation of County Bridge No. E0801, Nevius Street over the Raritan River, Raritan Borough and Hillsborough Township, Somerset County, New Jersey” The Nevius Street Bridge is the oldest metal highway bridge in the County and ranks as one of the oldest and most complete examples of its truss design in the entire State. Based on its age, state of preservation, and engineering significance, the bridge was individually listed on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places in 1992. The Nevius Street Bridge spans the Raritan River and served for many years as a link connecting River Road (County Route 625) in Hillsborough Township to Nevius Street in Raritan Borough. The Nevius Street Bridge is an important local crossing due to its proximity and easy access to major regional transportation corridors. Based upon the construction of a new two-span concrete bridge upstream at Lyman Street, the Nevius Street Bridge was converted to a pedestrian crossing while maintaining its original engineering design to preserve its historical integrity. The bridge received a 2006 New Jersey Historic Preservation Award for the “Rehabilitation of County Bridge E0801” from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Natural and Historic Resources, Historic Preservation Office. The bridge also received notice from the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission 2006 Preservation Awards with a “Nevius Street Bridge Historic Preservation Commen-dation Award.” PERSONNELKeller & Kirkpatrick is proud to announce that Jonathan Pera has been promoted to Assistant Director of Structures.
